welcome to the Cobalt Skyway

An interesting graphic landed in my mail box this morning from our Head of Business Development, Allan Shaw.

Results published on 6 November by asymco.com, show that the number of smartphone users in the US is growing rapidly.

In September alone approximately 650k consumers switched from non-smart to smartphones every week, with the majority choosing an Android platform.

It is a very similar story in the UK with it being predicted that around 50% of mobile phone users will have a smartphone by this time next year.

This is great news for the Market Research industry, as mobile research is a real buzz word right now. A lot of time and money is being spent on the best way to engage respondents on their mobile phones.

Here at Cobalt Sky, in addition to the work we've done on making our online surveys a more engaging experience, we've done research into how to make surveys more accessible on mobiles, as well as implementing drag and drop, and location based applications for iphones.

The overall online survey experience is extremely important to us and this has driven our thinking and development on the mobile research/survey platform.

Despite such incredible growth, currently the majority of mobile phone owners in the UK and the US still have non-smartphones. What can I say? There will always be the likes of my Aged P, faithful to his old brick that only needs to be charged once a month, as it spends its life turned off in a drawer!
