Winyaps is the industry standard tool for formatting presentation quality tables, used by thousands of people around the world. Winyaps gives you the ability to format to a standard style, or use different styles for different clients. Winyaps tables can be delivered to anyone and viewed using the free Winyaps Reader. It’s the Acrobat of the market research world.

As well as offering extensive formatting, Winyaps is a gateway to other output formats, so you can generate tables in Word, Excel and HTML.

The add-on SmartXL Macro will get your exported Excel tables looking identical to the Winyaps tables, automatically applying the same styles.

If you are running a multi-user installation, producing tables in a Unix operating environment, you can implement an automated processing system, avoiding the need to manually process each file.

Free Winyaps Reader

Winyaps Reader is free and can be used within your organisation or passed to other users with whom you intend to exchange Winyaps formatted tables. The Winyaps Reader only opens files created by one of the other versions of Winyaps.

TOMPager is aimed at PASW Data Collection users who want to produce paginated tables from Professional Tables (mrStudio), Reports for Surveys (Desktop Reporter) and mrScriptBasic. Standard output from PASW is in the form of single logical tables, so long banners or side headings need to be manually split or shrunk to fit on printable pages. TOMPager emulates the functionality of Quantum tables output, breaking long or wide tables into user-definable page-size sections. The resulting ASCII tables can then be formatted in Winyaps or other tables processors such as E-tabs.

TOMPager is a PASW plug-in so integrates directly into the PASW product suite.

Version 1 of the Specwriter's Work Bench consisted of 13 programs. We have added a further 11 programs to Version 2 as well as enhancing the functionality and performance of the existing tools.

Nowadays a lot more data is being delivered in a delimited format e.g. Excel or SPSS. If you require fixed-format data we have a number of tools to work with field data and convert it. Fixcel will scan a delimited file, calculate the width required for each field and write out a data set and column map. Getfield will let you pull out fields selectively and reformat them and Fldc will tell you all you need to know about a delimited file.

Our RTF program is a real bonus for people who need to deliver ASCII tables to customers. It automatically determines the optimum point size by scanning your tables and writes out a file in Rich-Text-Format that can be loaded into Word or any RTF-compatible Word processor for viewing. It also converts line-feed format underlining into correct underlining. This can save you and your client lots of time when delivering tables.

If you only want to work with specific pages the Findpg and Getpage utilities will let you extract tables based on specific strings or page numbers for viewing or printing.

All the data reading utilities now recognise a start-up file defining the data structure. There is no need to re-specify serial number or card number fields every time. On Unix the data tools will recognise and read compressed files directly. Lookup and Snip now work with Quantum multi-punch data and not just ASCII.

Hcnt will now read 2 data files simultaneously and count the differences. This can be extremely useful for checking the extent of changes to a data file pre- and post-edit.

Xtab is a new utility for performing basic cross-tab checks on data. You can tabulate individual columns, numeric data and string fields. There are also facilities for specifying text if necessary. This can be very useful for quick top-line results

Pf will print all types of ASCII files to PostScript printers. Pf will print in landscape or portrait and can automatically scale tables to fit correctly on a page. There is no need to specify page dimensions or limit yourself to specific printer set-ups.

Yaps converts traditional ASCII fixed font tables into proportional fonts that can be printed on any PostScript printer. Unlike some other table formatters you do not need to spend a lot of time preparing your tables for Yaps. Yaps recognises simple banner formatting and automatically converts them with boxing or underlining as required. Once you have defined a preferred style you can apply it to any other tables. Because Yaps reads your ASCII tables directly all your page formatting is honoured.

Yaps runs on Linux, Sun and SCO systems and is designed for producing printed tables.

If you produce tables under Windows on PCs, support Quanvert users or want to store and distribute tables electronically see the pages on Winyaps.

Our word cloud generator allows you to view your verbatim responses in a word cloud, indicating the number of occurrences of each word, and allowing you to drill down to the underlying source comments.

The tool reads directly from Excel files, is available as a plug-in to SPSS’s Desktop Reporter, and can be used from VBA to read, for example, from SQL databases.

The word cloud is generated as an HTML page which is self-contained and can be distributed to other users.

As well as producing standard word clouds the tool also lets you count word pairs and phrases.
