- I have Winyaps Pro and Adobe Acrobat installed on the same machine and would like to convert my Winyaps tables to .pdf format.
If you have Winyaps Pro and the full version of Acrobat installed on the same machine, you can simply print the .tab file using Acrobat. Choose File -> Print. In the Print dialog choose Acrobat Distiller as your desired printer - this will produce your .pdf file.
- I do not have Winyaps Pro and Adobe Acrobat installed on the same machine, but would like to convert my Winyaps tables to .pdf format.
If you do not have the full version of Acrobat installed on your machine, you will need to tick the box 'Print to file' in the Print dialog. Make sure that the printer you choose to print to is a postscript printer. Click OK - this will create a .prn file, which is your postscript file. Then, using the machine on which you have the full version of Acrobat installed, you simply start up the Distiller program and drag and drop the .prn file into the Distiller - this will produce your .pdf file.
- I have problems using Winyaps with Windows 2000.
With Windows 2000 you must login locally as a Power User or Administrator when you are installing Winyaps.
When you access your network you must open Winyaps via the Start Menu and use File -> Open in order to open the .TAB or .WYP files. It is not possible to open a file by double-clicking in it in Explorer using Windows 2000.
- I would like to use my tables in a PowerPoint slideshow.
You can export Winyaps to Excel using the File -> Export option. Now open PowerPoint and choose to open a 'graph' style slide. Choose the appropriate data from Excel and paste this into the data grid controlling the Powerpoint graph.
- Accented/International characters are not displayed correctly.
Go to File -> Document Properties. Choose the Strings tab. Check the box Convert OEM characters to ANSI. Note: if it is already checked, then uncheck it. Your tables will be reloaded.
The setting of the conversion depends on the original encoding of the table. Generally, If you have produced tables from DOS, then you should have this box ticked. If in Windows, then this box should not be ticked. Unix produced files are slightly more problematic. Again, this depends on how the files were generated. Generally, Unix systems are configured to ANSI standard although some (mainly PC based Unix systems) are left in IBM (DOS) character encoding. Moreover, Unix encoding can be changed at will by the user. However, it is probably safe to assume ANSI encoding (almost certain if it is a SUN) and so the box should be unticked.
Of course, if the characters come out wrong just change the setting.
- I cannot click on anything in the table. Formatting is not possible.
You are probably in Print Preview mode. You can tell this because the screen has a border around the edge of the "paper". To switch off Print Preview mode select File -> Print Preview. This will return you to normal mode and all formatting functions will be available.
