• Headings

  Put the date, job title and page numbers on separate lines.

  It can be useful to have two lines for jh (job header) so that Winyaps recognises the main title and sub title - if there is no second line on a particular job it is recommended that a blank line is put in as a dummy.

  A blank line is needed between the last table heading and the beginning of the break. If you have the setting:

  format=LBH0

  change this to:

  format=LBH1

• Number of Breaks
  The number of breaks on a page may need to be reduced as the col headings can become too compressed. This can produce fonts that are too small. The recommended maximum number of breaks on one page is 20. This is subject to text requirements.

• Merlin Footer Justification

  Turn on the set footer justification in Merlin (eg <jl> on global ft).

• Underlining
  You need to use 'true' underlining on <bold>row</bold> labels to match Quantum style, eg:

  v='_HEADING_\Row Label

  and set urh off (underline row heading format)

  Also, do not use <u>. Use ‘true’ underline instead.

  With breakdown headers use f=uch, not ‘true’ underline.

• Banner Headings

  Use the default setting for ctu and turn format ucl off (f=ctu'-'/nucl).

• Indents

  Remove indents for the footer and jobtitle (f=ibf0/ibj0).

• Lines Per Page

  The lpp format - lines per page - varies from user to user: Winyap tabs can look better if the lpp>61, but this makes it difficult to use the Merlin table of contents without manipulation in Word.

• Winyaps Strings

  In the File | Document Properties | Strings tab in Winyaps set the string preferences to match the Merlin output; eg Absolute Figures.

• Merlin Row Label Width

  Use a constant row label width throughout a run. Do not change it from table to table as this can lead to labels being thrown into the wrong column.
