Extract the files from the zip and run installer.exe. If you have previously installed DSC's from the Triple-S website, then use the uninstall option first. Once complete, rerun the installer and choose install.

If after installing you see two Triple-S read dsc's then the old dscs are present. Just run the installer again and choose uninstall. Then run the installer again and choose install.

If you are unsure, you are safe to choose uninstall. The installer will complain if it can't find the dsc's. You can ignore these error messages.

1. 14/12/2006 fix added to the write dsc, did not work correctly with mrStudio.
2. If you have code that uses the dsc's, you should note that the name of the metadata dsc has changed. The new version is called sssMetaDsc.
3. The metadata dsc introduces a variable that hopefully, will not exist in the data. This is dscserial and is a long. The read dsc sets dscserial to be the line number from the file that the data is taken from. This allows simple serialisation of the data when importing into another form. Note that if dscserial already exists, it will cause an error. If you want to transfer triple-s to quantum, you can use dscserial as the unique value within mdm2quantum.
4. If you choose an existing filename with the write dsc, it will be overwritten without warning. If you are using an export facility such as mrStudio, winDMS or DTS, make sure the filename you give does not already exist. Note also that the file(s) are created at the beginning of the export, not the end. If you have named an existing file and started the export, it has gone.
5. The write DSC makes an attempt to see if a value has been assigned to a variable. If it is unused, the column(s) will be blank. This is a different value to 0. This does not work on text variables.
6. The write dsc attempts to "compress" the data. Effectively this means that widths as described in the mdd are ignored. i.e. if your mdd claims a variable has a value between 1 to 10 and the write dsc only sees 1-9 then that column will only have a width of 1 and not 2 as described in the mdd.
